an triall english translation: the mothers evidence : gníomh a haon radharc a ceathair

the mother comes. she goes on her knees and she starts praying. The light shines on her. she gets up

aturnae 2: are you bean uí chathasaigh?

máthair: i am.. but i shouldn't get any part of the blame. i was raised with faith and Christianity. I raised my children with my husband in the name of god. my last born was born three months after my husbands death. i was left like a slave without any help. my head and back bent working from morning till night.and what did i get for it at the end of the day? i was embarrassed in front of the neighbours. they were pointing the finger at me and mocking me if i go to the market or even to mass on sunday.

aturnae 2: the opinion of the neighbours is worrying you the most.

máthair: its not worth it spending my life around them

aturnae 2: i'm asking you did you show the love of a mother or christian charity to your daughter when she was in trouble?

máthair: she drew the trouble on herself.

aturnae 2: is it true that you tried to terminate the pregnancy.

máthair: its not a sin to put an end to a dirty thing- something that everyone thought was evil... i sent the girl for an upbringing that is right for a christian girl. she was going to the nuns. but its clear that she was sneaking out the window with a person that i don't even know the name of.

she cried and left.
